Jurassic Park

Dinosaurs may be just a memory to us nowadays, but in this movie – the memories come back to life. Insects from millions of years ago that have been trapped and preserved in amber have actually preserved Dino DNA inside of them. Science has found a way to extract this DNA and actually clone the dinosaurs in modern life. These new-to-the-world Dinos are then placed in a special park for people to pay for and view these animals for their own entertainment, like an amusement park – called Jurassic park.

Before the park can be opened to the public, the owner asks a very select audience to experience the park first hand and experience the wonders it has to offer. It all seems like a miracle. People who have devoted their careers to learning and guessing about how these mysterious creatures lived are finally able to see them alive.

But along with this miracle comes a lot of danger: these animals were never intended to co-exist with human beings – but there is a severe security system to keep these animals out of any park guest's way. The money that is up for grabs because of this milestone reached in science is in the millions and millions – and greedy people everywhere want to get some of their hands on it.

When a deranged coworker steals embryos from the research center, he disables the protection that the security system offered the park, and select group of visitors the island have to suffer the consequences. They are now on a wild chase to get back to safety and avoid the hungry dinosaurs that are viciously hunting them down.

This movie came out in 1993 and I believe it to be one of the most timeless films made of its genre. Steven Spielberg directed this film and it proved to be a crowd favorite. The theme song to this movie is recognizable from any movie fan. Sure, a lot of people have a lot to cut up about the effects in this movie but in my opinion it was done brilliantly. It has such a creative story and in my opinion it seems so real.

I think that the best part of this movie is the scenery. The feel of the island and the feel of an abandoned theme park really makes it even more spooky when the innocent researchers are being hunted down. I have never heard of anyone that doesn't like this movie, and I do not think that you will be an exception if you haven't seen it yet!

Love, Actually

I have seen a lot of romantic comedies, but none of them come even close to how much I like this one. Taking place at Christmas time in London, this movie follows the romantic lives of many characters (who somehow all seem to intertwine) and how at Christmas time, it's a time to really show who you love that you love them.

Some of the stories that it follows are beautiful, and some of them are quite sad. It covers all the different kinds of relationships that can happen at different times in all categories, and it does it brilliantly. The movie is quite funny, but above all it's very romantic. Yes, it can be classified as a chick flick, but I don't care. It's one of the best there is. The romance schemes that happen across the different characters are still talked about even 7 years after this movie was released! (One of my favorite parts is the choir that sings “all you need is love” at the wedding)

This movie might have a lot to do with Christmas, but that doesn't matter to me I will watch it at any time of the year, and recommend it to anyone. It's one of those movies that you watch when you had a bad day or are really overwhelmed with stuff in your life and you just need a movie to help you calm down. It Takes Two

The Olsen Twins may be the most loved twins in all of Hollywood, and they stole the hearts of their audience not only in Full House, but in this first full-feature film of theirs.

Alyssa and Amanda were two perfect strangers. They lived completely different lives, had completely different personalities, were born of different parents, but for some reason looked completely identical. Another thing they shared: a need to belong to a different family.

Alyssa was born to Roger Callaway, one of the richest men in all of the USA. He works a lot, and misses his late wife, so Alyssa is left alone a lot of the time and feeling like she is an orphan, without any of the freedom. Her dad is about to marry a new, awful, woman that will become Alyssa's stepmother – and she will do everything and anything to get rid of her.

On the other hand, Amanda is a tomboy who lives in an orphanage. Her social worker is the closest thing she has ever had to a mother, and all she wants is a place she can call home with people can can call a family.

The two strangers head off for their summer vacation. Amanda heads to an orphanage camp, and Alyssa travels to her summer mansion. The two girls venture off, and bump into each other in the forest. At first, they are terrified – seeing an identical stranger. But then they come to the realization that they are two different people, but have a lot of similar interests.

The pair develop a plan to switch places and see what life is like in the other's shoes. In the mean time, Amanda tries to drive away the evil girlfriend of Roger Callaway, and they try to set up a love match between Amanda's social worker and Roger. “The two would be perfect for each other”.

I watched this movie as a young child maybe about 100 times. It was my favorite movie. This is why I wanted to share it. It's pretty corny and it really is meant for younger children, but for the audience that it is intended for it's amazing. The story line is really cute in it and out of all the Olsen twins' movies, I think that this (sadly) might be their best one! If you have a young child – I recommend this cute story for them! 10,000 B.C

Thousands and thousands of years ago, lived a tribe of mammoth hunters. D'leh was among these people, and he rose to be one of the top warriors of the tribe. He falls for a beautiful woman that too belonged in the tribe – the fragile Evolet.

Evolet and many others are kidnapped into slavery one night by warlords on horses, and their destination is quite unknown. D'leh cannot let this happen to them, and he sets out on a dangerous journey to free his people, and get back the love of his life, Evolet.

Along D'leh's journey, he comes face to face with the Sabre tooth monster. He thinks he must fight and defeat the massive cat, but finds it drowning in a hole. He saves the cat, and the cat leaves him be.

Also along his journey, he finds more and more tribes whom he befriends, and bands them together to fight the warlords as one unit. Each of them have missing family members that have been taken by the warlords, and they're all willing to fight for each other.

They finally find out where their loved ones have been taken: to an empire in which they must build through slave work. The warlords answer to a high priest, and their resistance may be more dangerous than they ever though.

I did my best to watch this movie with an open mind and put a blind eye to historical inaccuracies. I think doing this made me appreciate the movie a lot more. It did have a great story in my opinion, and my favorite part was when all the different tribes banded together in one cause. I thought the love story was very romantic, and I thought the scenery in this movie was fantastic.

The only thing I did not like about the movie was the way they handled the languages. I do understand that they couldn't do a whole movie in subtitles, but not everyone in the world speaks English, and for some reason all the tribe people had these weird accents to make them sound like they were from a time far away from our own. I didn't understand their strange accents. I felt that this was the only thing that really took away from the story. But other than that, I really liked it. I want to know what you thought of it too! Armaggedon

Imagine an asteroid the size of Texas that's headed for planet Earth – and the world is going to suffer immensely from it. NASA becomes aware of the disaster that is headed for us all, and the only way to stop it is to detonate a nuclear bomb from inside the asteroid.

A team is assembled to take on the task of destroying the deadly asteroid – but this is no easy task. Each of the characters must face their own personal issues in their complicated lives before embarking on the mission: after all, they may never return to their normal lives ever again.

NASA recruits one of the world's most expert drillers (Bruce Willis) to climb on board with the team and take on the task of drilling into the asteroid, along with him come some of his rough-around-the-edges friends. On the team is also his wild-hearted daughter's Fiance (Ben Affleck). The men embark on a mission to save the world, but what will the outcome be?

This movie is the epitome of “Hollywood”. A story that isn't quite realistic, where the world is at peril, and the Americans come in and save the day. If you can get passed that aspect of the movie, you may actually enjoy it. Took me awhile, but I ended up really liking this movie. I got really involved with the characters, and I thought they performed superbly. (I'm a big Ben Affleck fan).

I know it's typical Hollywood and pretty corny at times, but it really is one of those feel-good movie that you really get into the successes of the characters. You really start to think, wow if this actually happened in the world how would I feel? It may not be realistic, but it is in tune with a lot of issues that are present today.

I really liked this movie and I would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a movie that may make them shed a tear, and love these hero type films. Furry Vengeance

Brendan Fraser stars as Dan Sanders - the bad guy and victim in this family comedy. He plays a real estate developer that wishes to take over the Oregon wilderness with homes and buildings. The animals that have lived in that land their whole lives see him and his plans, and they develop a plan to ensure that they do not lose their homes.

They decide to fight and bring Dan down with their many pranks and tricks, and are determined to drive him out, no matter what it takes.

You think this would be a cute movie for the whole family to enjoy – but unfortunately this was not the case. The movie completely bombed and was lacking in almost every department of cute humor, good messages, and something for the family to enjoy. Usually, I really like Brendan Fraser's characters as he brings a certain innocent sweetness to the movie, but in this one his character was just not cut out for him.

Critics couldn't agree with me more. Some even said that this could be the worst movie of the year. They say that the movie really tests your patience it's so obnoxious, and it was just a pure disappointment. It's too bad too, I always find it refreshing to find a new sweet kid's movie that adults can even appreciate.

Chicken Run

Ginger the chicken has always had a thirst for the other side of the grass that always looks so much greener than where she is – cooped up on a chicken farm. She's on a mission to escape, and she is willing to do anything and everything to get out and save not only herself but her many chicken friends.

They get a surprise visit from Rocky the Rooster (voiced by Mel Gibson), the flying rooster. He hides out on the chicken farm so he doesn't have to go back to his circus act, and he just wants more than anything to escape as well. But there's only one thing that no one knows – Rocky can't actually fly and he is in need of help just as much as the other chickens.

Things start getting worse and worse on the chicken farm when their farmers buy a machine that is used for making chicken pies. Time has never been more of the essence, and Ginger needs to develop a flawless plan to save the chickens. A love interest sparks between Ginger and Rocky, and the pair must do what they can to keep the faith of the chickens that are saddened to see more and more of their friends lost to chicken pies.

This movie is perfect for kids. It's cute, charming, and a real feel-good flick. It's one of those kids movies even adults enjoy watching because it is so cute. It's a certified fresh pick on Rotten Tomatoes, and I couldn't agree more. Not only is this movie cute, it actually makes use of quite intelligent humor – so all age groups can enjoy it. The best part of this movie is that it's not all animation – it's clay figures that animate the screen and the images that it creates it quite wondrous.

Jane was a selfless, successful young woman that had it all - everything but love. She was always the friend, the best friend, the bridesmaid. She had been in 27 weddings, with 27 bridesmaid dresses to prove it.

Then she met Malcolm – but no no, no interest there. Jane had been in love with her boss George for almost as long as she could remember. She thought he was the perfect man, and she envisioned a life with him, only... He didn't like her back.

Jane's younger – and more irresponsible - sister Tess came down for a weekend to spend with her. When she came out with Jane one night, she met George – and there was instant chemistry. Tess would make herself out to be everything George would like in a woman, no matter how untrue it was. This breaks Jane's heart as she watches her dream man get whisked away by her shallow sister.

But then again, there was Malcolm. He wrote for a wedding and marriage column – only Jane did not know this – and when he came to the knowledge of her being in 27 weddings, he took an interest in her. Malcolm decided to write an interest piece on Jane and the fact that she was always a bridesmaid – never a bride, all without her knowing.

But secrets only stay hushed for so long... and this will be a tough lesson to learn for both Malcolm and Tess – making the movie completely change direction at its climax.

This is one of the most endearing and heart-warming romantic comedies of the decade in my opinion. Yes it's very typical and predictable, but stars Katherine Heigl and James Marsden make an adorable duo on screen that will have you sighing and awing.

I think that this is a good movie because of it's subtle message of karma – good things happen to good people (even if it takes forever) and everyone else will get what they deserve in the end – especially if it is a lesson to learn. This movie portrays karma at its finest, and it is very enjoyable and entertaining to watch.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Toula is 30 years old, she comes from a family that's 100% Greek, she works at her family restaurant – Dancing Zorba's – and she still lives at home with her parents. She was never able to find someone to marry, was never able to follow any career goals, and is stuck in her current state.

Her father, as Greek as someone can be, just wants her to meet a nice Greek boy, marry him, and have Greek children with him. But for Toula, who has seemed to let go of her self – this is easier said than done.

Toula finally decides she needs to make some changes in her life. She starts to go to school, she gets a job at the family travel agency, and she gives herself a makeover. Things are really starting to look brighter for her. But then love hits her when she least expects it, and there's only one major problem – he's not Greek.

Will Toula be able to be honest with her family about the true happiness she has found? Will she even be allowed to have someone who is not Greek in her life?

In my opinion, this movie was amazing. Not only was the plot clever and had a cute love story, it has large amounts of witty humor and even if you're not Greek you will find it hysterical. It's a culture rich movie, and I believe that it was done really well. I think that the actress who played Toula is highly intelligent (I heard she played a big part in the writing of this movie).

This movie was so successful that it ended up being turned into a TV show – My Big Fat Greek Life. The show kind of bombed, but the movie was still amazing. Inception

Everyone dreams, sometimes we remember them, sometimes we don't. We can't explain what goes on in dreams, sometimes they mean nothing – but they can also mean everything and even change your life.

In this world, there is technology that allowed people to enter or invade each others dreams. People can steal ideas, or even something more dangerous – plant them. Big corporations hire Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), an expert dream invader, to enter the minds of rivals and steal their ideas.

All he wants is to go home to his children, but he has not been released from his job yet. He has been promised he can go home to his children under one condition – he must successfully invade the dream of a power figure and plant an idea in his head to not take over his deceased father's empire.

It could be an impossible task. Absolutely nothing can go wrong in the dream for the invaders to succeed – but the most skilled dream invader of all, Cobb, has an issue that won't stop popping up in his dreams. It keeps on affecting his ability to do his job, and he cannot release it.

This movie is so good that I don't want to give away any more hints about the plot. It's really one of those movies that I urge you to go and discover yourself. I was left asking so many questions about it and thinking of all the possibilities that it suggested. I figure this has got to be one of the best mystery movies I have ever seen. Leonardo DiCaprio was absolutely brilliant in it, and I felt he pretty well made the movie what is it though his acting talents. The story writers need to have a special mention as well – its rare to find such creativity like that in movies these days.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

When Scott Pilgrim saw Ramona Flowers - the absolute girl of his dreams, he falls for her so hard that nothing can get in the way of him being with her.

What he doesn't realize, is that Ramona has Seven evil Exes, and Scott must defeat every one of them if he is going to be with her. He's up for the job.

The coolest part about this movie in my opinion is that it's filmed with sort of a comic book feel. It really adds an element to the movie that makes it unlike any other teen film. It's awkward quirkiness, that's usually brought by actor Michael Cera, makes the film perfectly fit for the type of audience it's catering to - quirky awkward teens.

Michael Cera always plays characters that are quite the same - but he does it brilliantly and in my opinion is a comic genious.

Are you one of those fanatics that has been watching the Jersey Shore religiously every week?
Every time I watch that show I feel like I'm losing intelligence - but I'm not gonna lie I think it's hilarious and I can't stop watching it. My favorite character is definitely Snooki! Who is yours?

Bride Wars

We all know that weddings can be a beautiful thing – but it can also bring out the worst in people. You may be familiar with the term “Bride-zilla” - but I don't think you have ever seen it like this.

Liv and Emma had been best friends since they were small children, and they both always shared a dream – to be married in the Plaza hotel. Finally, things start to fall in place for them at the age of 26 when both of their boyfriend propose, and the dream of living happily ever after is within reach. They both book a consultation to books their weddings weekends apart, both in the beautiful Plaza Hotel.

Everything takes a turn for the worst when the wedding consultant booked their weddings on the SAME day. There's no other dates available at the Plaza. Remember, this isn't just some event: this is a wedding that the girls have been dreaming of their entire lives – and everything they envisioned for it is falling apart at the seams. Worst yet – neither of them can be apart of each other's bridal party.

Who's going to move the location of their wedding? Neither. And so the war begins. From blue hair to bad fake tans, there's no limits between these once-friends.

What did critics think about this movie? Not very much to be honest. Many said it was unimaginative, boring, and highly predictable. Myself, I thought that it was annoying to watch girls at each other's throats and I was a little bit angry with the message the movie gave. Sure mostly everything is happy-go-lucky at the end, but for the most part – what kind of message is this sending to the audience? A good word for it would be immaturity.

Love Happens

You think this movie would have been your typical romantic film; having a primary focus on a sappy love story following every typical expectation: they meet, they fight, they make-up. But surprisingly enough, Love Happens (starring Jennifer Aniston and Arron Eckhart) was very different than I expected it to be.

Actually, the movie's main focus was on the complex process of grieving the loss of a loved one, and learning to eventually let go in your own way. Main character Dr. Burke Ryan (played by Arron Eckhart) is a self-help author that after losing his wife to a car accident, claims to be a specialist on grieving the loss of a loved one and learning to let go. What the audience is surprised to find out is that behind the scenes and the face of the man on the cover of his book, he is actually continuing to blame himself for the death if his wife and is having extreme difficulty accepting her absence.

It actually interferes with every area of his life whether he knows it or not, and this actually translates to his readers in some of their failed attempts to move on. As part of a publicity tactic, Dr. Ryan starts a workshop at a hotel for his patients where he can give them specific advice and help them to let go of the past. At the hotel, he suddenly bumps into Eloise (Jennifer Aniston) – the hotel florist – and there is an instant attraction between the two of them.

Eloise herself is having difficulties letting go of the past due to troubled relationships, and has decided to swear off men and focus on her floral business. Eloise and Dr. Ryan attempt dating, but both realize they are stuck in the past and cannot move forward with each other. What they must realize is that they must help each other let go of the past in order to move on to the future, and Dr. Ryan must be truthful to his patients.

To be honest, I didn't think that this movie had the best love story – so that is not the reason why I liked it. The truth of the matter is that at one point in all of our lives we will lose a loved one. This is one of the hardest things that we all must face, but we all must learn how to move on. This movie was great for lessons learned in grieving, and I believe it is something that everyone can benefit from watching. It really makes you feel that you are not alone, even at these lowest points in our lives.

The Bucket List

It's never too late to live life to the fullest.

The Bucket Lists is the tale of two men that wish to complete a list of dreams and aspirations that they have held for most of their life before they will one day, “kick the bucket”. Starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, this is a heart-warming comedic drama of friendship, of dreams, and of life lessons.

Carter Chambers has been in working class his whole life. He remembers the time when his professor in his freshman year asked his class to compose a bucket list – but a life kind of got in the way of the pursuit of this list. Carter found himself thinking about the list from time to time but he never actually got around to working on it. And then he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, death was possibly just around the corner – what happened to his life's dreams?

Edward Cole is a corporate billionaire, and was so busy in his life worrying about making money and building a business empire and meeting deadlines, that he got lost and realized at an old age that he never found the deeper meaning in life people always talk about – he never met any of his own personal dreams. This realization hits him when he too, is diagnosed with a terminal illness and is sitting in the bed next to a perfect stranger – Carter Chambers.

The two men befriend each other as they both share a yearning to reach their dreams before they see their life deadline. Against doctor orders, they leave the hospital together and take on the world head on as they cross off item by item on their list of life dreams.

This is one of the most heart-warming stories I have ever seen come to life on screen. It's about friendship, it's about dreams, it's about the preciousness of life, and it's a reminder that there are things more important in this world than money and society's expectations of us. Although I think anyone would enjoy this movie, I would recommend it for an older crowd – not only do actors Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson cater to this audience – but it's always nice to receive a reminder that life is meant for living.

Memento

This movie could very well be one of the most intelligent thrillers of all time. I am still left mind-boggled and confused yet I can't tell you enough of how good I thought this movie was.

It's an interesting idea – Leonard is a man with short-term memory lost. He continually wakes up and can't remember anything from a certain point. Every day he has to take all the clues he has left for himself over time and put the pieces back together. To give himself these clues, he tattoos himself with messages and reminders, and has Polaroid pictures of people with notes on them for him to keep in touch with the right people.

The way the movie is sequenced may be the most interesting aspect. There are two story line sequences in this movie, and they both have clips that alternate throughout the film. One of the story lines goes in order, and the other one plays backwards. One story line is in black and white, and the other one is in color. Finally, when the two story lines collide, the black and white bursts into color.

Leonard's wife was murdered. He only has bits and pieces of the murder case, but from the messages that he has tattooed to himself, he knows his one goal in life is to find her murderer (by the name of John G) and when he finds him, he will kill him. That is his only purpose in life and he will do anything to find him.

It sounds confusing, and it is. It won't get much clearer than that, and there are twists and turns that will leave you shouting at the screen. This thriller is pure intelligent entertainment, and it was executed beautifully on screen.
