Among the list of the greatest titles, you will likely find Sixteen Candles. Starring Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall, this movie is one of the kick starts to the 1980's reign of teen movies.
The story begins with Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) waking up on her 16th birthday, only to find that her family – so wrapped up in her sister's wedding plans – have completely forgot that it's her special day. Sam becomes frustrated as her day gets worse and worse, and she just seems invisible to everyone. Just your average girl, Sam loses hope of ever finding a dream guy for a boyfriend as she never gets noticed by anyone at school.
In study hall, Sam fills out a questionnaire revealing her crush on high school hottie Jake. When unsuccessfully passing it to her ½ asleep best friend, Jake gets a hold of what Sam wrote without her knowing. The day just gets worse and worse – her grandparents come to visit and take over her bedroom, her little brother is a pain in the neck, and her parents ask her to take a foreign exchange student with her to the dance. To make things worse, the most annoying geek in the school won't stop hitting on her!
The school dance starts off a crazy night that may turn everything in Sam's life around. With funny wisecracks and a wide array of characters that anyone can relate to, this movie will take you back and make you miss those wild high school nights.
