Slumdog Millionaire
How did Jamal know all the answers to the questions on the game show? Was it luck? Is he just that smart? Did he cheat? Or was it his fate? Slumdog Millionaire is the tale of Jamal Malik's life as a child of the slums, and how his fate shaped his future. Winning an Oscar for best picture in 2009 – this is one of the best movies and stories of our time.
The story begins with Jamal, now a young adult, being tortured and asked how he cheated on the game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? He tells the officers over and over again, he just honestly knew the answers. They do not believe him – they know he is from the slums and is therefore uneducated, so he could not possibly know the answers to many of the questions.
But honest Jamal did not cheat... and the questions that were laid out for him on the game show just happen to be trivia quizzing him on random facts that he learned at the most pivotal of moments in his life. It is not luck, or cheating – it is fate.
Jamal then sits down with the main officer and walks him through the moments he has endured in his life, and where he learned the answers to the questions. Jamal now carries the audience through the most memorable moments in his life, and the audience is thrilled, chilled, and touched by where Jamal has been, what he has had to endure, and the person he has become.
Losing both of his parents, him and his brother were left orphans at a very young age. They took a fellow orphan girl – Latika – under their wing in their life of poverty and leaned on each other for support in the toughest of times. They referred to themselves as the three musketeers.
At an older age, Jamal's older brother fell into the dangerous protection of a gang, and took Latika along with him. Jamal was left alone. Jamal has been in love with Latika his whole life, and all he wants is a life with her – but he cannot get to her.
And now here he is, on a game show that he knows Latika watches – he doesn't care about the money, he doesn't care about the fame, all he cares for is that Latika is watching, and maybe he will find her.
This is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever seen in my life. Not only is this movie a touching love story, it is a movie of destiny and character shaping. Jamal is the unlikely hero – and every audience member will love and admire his character. It is dusted with light humor, but is also as much a dark tale as it is warming.
This movie was truly deserving of Best Picture, and it is complete with the most unbelievable casts I have ever seen. Every actor is beyond believable – you will LOVE Slumdog Millionaire. Be sure to watch the Bollywood routine at the end of the movie to the famous song – Jai Ho.
Haven't yet seen Slumdog Millionaire or want to watch it again? (I recommend it – you'll find new meaning in it every time you watch it). Click one of the links below to download videos for free.

13 Going on 30
At her 13th birthday party, the mean kids that Jenna so badly wants to be friends with play a mean trick on her. They get her to wait in a closet to play 7 minutes in heaven, as they sneak out and leave her alone on her birthday with no one but Mattie. She just wants to become that confident woman she knows is somewhere inside of her – but she feels she has to wait for adulthood to get to her.
Then Jenna makes a wish – a wish to skip years and years and fast forward ahead to her life at thirty, flirty, and thriving. And much to her surprise... her wish comes true.
Jenna wakes up in 2004, at the age of 30, to a life she would have never expected. She knows it's her body and her life – but its not her. She has changed so much and doesn't like the rotten, selfish person that she has become. What's worse is that her and ex-best friend Mattie haven't even seen each other since high school, and they are no where near to being friends anymore.
Jenna got everything she wanted – a 30 year old body and a heck of a lot of confidence. But what she discovers at the young age of 13, is that she didn't become who she wanted to – she chose a life without her parents, her closest friends, and sold out who she truly was. Her life has little meaning now – and even though she's falling for 30 yr old Mattie – now Matt – he's engaged to be married and it's just too late.
Jenna finally discovered what matters the most in life, but is it too late to get it back?
I love this movie and the messages that it presents to its audience. I thought Jennifer Garner was a brilliant actress in this movie – although some critics said that at times she was too adult-like to be a 13 year old. The best part about this movie is that it reminds us to slow down in our own lives and appreciate the things that do matter to us, as it can be so easy to forget in this day and age.
13 going on 30 reminds us that it's not about how confident we are, how old we are, how successful we are, or how beautiful we are – but about who we are.

Wall-E
Wall-E is another amazing animated film that is from Disney's Pixar studios. Rather than the rest of their films, this movie, especially in the beginning, is minimal talking and a lot of visual storytelling as Wall-E can only say a couple of words. The narration I started my review with was the questions that were going through my head as I watched it. At first I was confused, but the story pieced itself together for me before my eyes.
Wall-E isn't just a robot – he has feelings. He yearns for someone to love; a hand to hold. His prayers are answered when a more updated, latest version robot visits planet Earth and recognizes a single plant that Wall-E had, the only form of life currently on the planet. The new robot, Eve, is programmed to deliver the plant to a station in outer space upon its discovery.
Wall-E follows her to the station in outer-space, and that is when the audience discovers where all the humans went.
The humans have been living for hundreds of years on a massive flying ship, where obesity and consumerism are as common as breathing. People have literally lost the use for their legs and any other kind of muscle except their throats to help them intake food. They now use robots and computers for virtually everything.
The discovery that Earth can again sustain life forms is huge: but humans have now become to comfortable in their lazy worlds, that Earth has become a forgotten place...
Wall-E isn't just another animated comedy film that Pixar is used to creating: this time it's something much deeper for any kind of audience to appreciate, complete with a message meant for everyone to hear. Focusing on the terrors of growing consumerism and the increasing reliance on machines to do our thinking for us, Wall-E is a heart-warming story with a chilling warning.
See this movie for yourself and hear the message loud and clear, while laughing at the light humor and cuteness of all the robots and machines. Watch videos online by clicking on one of the links below:

The Wizard of Oz
Judy Garland stars as Dorothy in this whimsical movie – full of magic, mystery, music, and a beyond imaginative story line. I don't want to make myself sound old (and I'm not) but they just don't make movies like this anymore.
Dorothy is a young, light-hearted girl. When her neighbor threatens to steal her little dog Toto away from her, Dorothy runs away. On her way back home, her and her pup get caught in a tornado and her house gets ripped up from the ground. Dorothy and Toto travel with it. When she awakes from the fall, she notices that she is far from her home in Kansas. “Toto – we're not in Kansas anymore”.
When Dorothy walks out to explore where she landed, (The Land of Oz) it becomes known to her that she landed and killed the Wicked Witch of the East! Dorothy is now loved by the innocent and good people of Oz. The Wicked Witch of the West comes to seek revenge on Dorothy, forcing her to leave Oz. Dorothy must take a journey on the yellow brick road to Emerald City, where the Wizard of Oz can help her return home.
Along the way, Dorothy meets a scarecrow with no brains, a tin man with no heart, and lion with no courage. It appears they all have something in common: they all have something they need to feel complete.
This movie is an American Classic and is adored by anyone who has ever seen it. It is completely timeless and anyone of any age can enjoy it. The music from it has lasted years beyond years, and the famous lines have proved to withstand the test of time.
Full of meaningful messages of how your heart lies at home, and the importance of friends and imagination, the Wizard of Oz has shown the world something that they will never forget, watch over and over again, and enjoy it each time as thoroughly as the last.
I urge you to watch this movie if you haven't yet – and if you have, watch it again! You'll find new ways to appreciate it every time – trust me.

She's All That
When Zach Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr.) - high school hottie, class president, sports all-star and honor roll student - gets DUMPED by his girlfriend, the whole school is quick to find out. Zach claims to his best friends that he could make any girl prom queen. Given she has a cute boyfriend around her arm and a good look to her – she can easily take such a title. His best friend laughs in his conceited face and decides to make a bet out of it. He gets to pick the girl, and Zach has to make her the envy if every girl in school, and the dream of every boy in school.
Laney Boggs (Rachel Leigh Cooke) is chosen as the candidate. She's artsy, she's weird, she's an outcast – but Zach has a plan in store for her that will hopefully make her into prom queen. Laney isn't so quick to fall for him – she doesn't want to distract herself from her own life goals and she doesn't want to fall for the high school jock.
Ex girlfriends, pesty brothers, college applications, and insecurities seem to get in the way for this pair. What Laney doesn't see is that Zach is a liar, but what Zach doesn't see is that maybe there's more to their relationship than a bet after all. But hey – a bet's still a bet right?
Like I said, this movie is by far one of my all-time favorites, and although it can be a little corny and 90's in its nature, I still can't find one thing I hate about it. It's funny, it's cute, and it's everything and more you would expect from a teen movie. Did you know there's even a special guest role played by Usher?

Orphan
Kate and John are the loving parents of a family of 4 and love their 2 children dearly. When they unsuccessfully try for a third, they decide to adopt a child. They go to the orphanage and are drawn to a young girl named Esther, and welcome her into their home. She appears to be a kind, warm girl that just wants a family to love her.
When Esther starts to act strange, the family just believes she might be emotionally disturbed from earlier times in her life – but things progressively get worse and worse. There's something wrong with Esther.
Kate and John make some shocking discoveries about Esther and “what is wrong with her”, but these continue to go disregarded until it is possibly too late...
Critics were really up and down with this movie. For the most part, many of them said it was wildly entertaining – filled with unsuspecting twists and turns - and it really spooked the audience out. They said Esther played a daunting villain, and is the key player in a story of strangeness and nastiness in unhappy families. Other critics said it was a little too long for a horror movie to be, made use of too many cliches, and produced a lot of cheap thrills.
If you are in the mood to turn off the lights and freak yourself right out tonight, I would strongly recommended this twisted flick. It creeped me right out, and I know it will for you too. Check it out today and click on one of the links below to watch it for free like I did:

Brothers
While on duty, Sam's helicopter is shot down and all are presumed to be dead, and Sam's family mourns his loss and tries to accept his permanent absence from their lives. Tommy tries to take care of the recently windowed Grace and step in as a father figure for his two nieces. As Tommy does his best to serve as an anchor for their family in his brother's memory, him and Grace find themselves growing together emotionally, but not physically.
What is unknown to these characters is that Sam is in fact alive. He has been captured by the Taliban and has been imprisoned, subjected to trauma and torture, and exposed to the most gruesome of treatment as he is robbed of every last bit of humanity that he owns. On the contrary, ex-prisoner and brother Tommy is gaining back character and strength overseas.
Sam is rescued and much to his family's surprise, the fact that he is alive becomes known to them. He returns home – but much of who he was is left back in the remote mountains of Afghanistan. He is unstable, paranoid, detached from reality, and is possessed by the demons of war. He is convinced that his wife and brother have had intimate relations, and accuses them of it. What will silence the voices in his head? Who will dominate as the male role of the house?
Then what starts off as a story of learning to live and let go of the loss of a loved one; the story of re-building a life - takes a complete unexpected turn.
Critics loved and raved about this movie, and I believe you will too. With the most chilling yet intriguing of story lines, a more-than-believable cast, and 1 hour and 45 minutes of emotional upheaval, you will not want to miss out on a movie of this size.

17 Again
Middle-aged Mike O'Donnell (Matthew Perry) is tired with his current life. The romance and connection between him and his high school sweetheart wife has completely faded, his has been passed over for a work promotion, his kids don't think much of him, and he spends his days wasting time with his best friend who is still stuck in his teenager days. How did his life end up this way?
When Mike was 17 (played by Zac Efron), he was a talented basketball player that was going places. Him and his girlfriend were shocked to find out that at the young age of 17, they were expecting their first child. Mike gave up his basketball dreams to be there for his future wife and newborn baby. What would have happened if he found a way to still pursue his dream that he threw away so fast when he was young? If only there was a way to go back...
Suddenly, Mike O'Donnell wakes up and he is 17... again. He's given a second chance to pursue his basketball career and finally live a life he won't be tired with. Even though he is trying to re-live the best years of his could-have-been life, he is quickly losing the things and people he loves the most, and he will lose them forever if he doesn't do something about it.
This isn't your typical teenage movie and teenagers won't be the only ones who will find this movie entertaining. This is a great movie for the middle-aged audience too as it may put their own lives into a new perspective. Teenage girls may be the biggest audience, however, as Zac Efron proves to us once more that he will never fail at being the dreamy heart throb of every girl's dreams.

Babies
Babies is an educational film that takes you on a journey covering the first year of life for 4 babies across the globe: Ponijao – born in Namibia, Bayar – born in Mongolia, Mari – born in Japan, and Hattie – born in California.
It can be said that our world has become too consumed with focusing on our differences between cultures. Although there are many, filmmaker Thomas Balmes shows the world through this movie that maybe we are not all that different after all. The first year is the shaping year; think of all the things we experience for the first time. We hear our first sounds, take our first breaths, and view the world through brand new curious eyes. These views of the world may differ in Namibia from California, but it still is a view of our planet Earth. We all call this place home, and Balmes allows the audience to discover this and just how much we have in common through the eyes of babies in this adorable film.
A lot of light laughs, a lot of little discoveries of our own - this is a film that is sure to bring you back down to earth. The audience was pleased with the documentary – with no narrator this is a film of visual storytelling that is both engaging and embracing. A topic everyone in the world can relate to, Babies reminds us adults not to be so serious all the time – life is here for us to enjoy and learn from every day.

Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans - taking place in 1971 - is a story about Coach Boone (played by Denzel Washington), an African-American who starts his first year as coach at a high school who just opened its doors to African-American students - a huge point of controversy in a world that wasn't ready for such a big change.
The football team struggles to overcome racial differences at training camp, but soon learn to look past skin color and as a result become a team of undefeated strength and courage. Yet the world around them doesn't seem to want to follow suit. Their town is so consumed with politics and imagined racial entitlement, yet the team continues to overcome these difficulties and give their town a football team to believe in.
Chronicling the true 1971 story of the T.C Williams football team of Alexandria, Virginia, this movie reminds us of the hardships that we have come so far from. We remember how people like the players, coaches, and family members of the Titans football team changed the way people looked away from a skin color focus, and turned to a person focus, all through something that united everyone in a small town – the enjoyable, high energy game of foot ball.
Personally, I have never met someone that didn't love this movie. It's extremely entertaining - with a perfect cast, a beautiful story, an intense sport, and a deep message we all need to look back and remember.

Precious
A father that rapes her and impregnates her twice, a mother that severely abuses her emotionally and physically, and a world that offers no love or support for her, Claireece “Precious” Jones is alone and scared. She attempts to save herself at her hardest of times by imagining herself on the cover of a magazine, having a perfect light-skinned boyfriend, and being in a music video on BET. Her imagination allows her to escape to a world where people may actually love her and pay attention to her.
When suspended from her school for getting pregnant for the 2nd time at the young age of 16, Precious gets put into an alternate education class. She meets Ms. Rain, her new teacher, and begins to receive guidance counseling from Mrs. Weiss (played by Mariah Carrey). Here, Precious begins to learn to read for the first time in her life and also learns a lot about love, about life, about growing and overcoming, and about her own identity.
Based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire, comes an inspirational film that focuses on the human capacity to grow, learn, and rise above our greatest obstacles in life. As the trailer simply puts it: Life is hard, Life is short, Life is painful, Life is rich, Life is precious. Disturbing, inspiring, truthful, and so much more – this movie has a lot of lessons to offer its audience.
Receiving 2 Oscars and receiving beautiful reviews by its critics, you won't want to miss a film of this size. To watch this movie and learn from it as much as I did, click the links below:

The Invention of Lying
Then there was Mark (played by Ricky Gervis), a man that a lot of people do not like, find fat and are not afraid to tell him that. He was sick of people being brutally honest with him, until he one day discovered maybe telling the truth isn't the only option. The Invention of Lying.
He walks into the bank and tells them he wishes to make a withdrawal that is much larger than the balance in his account, and the teller believes him and blames it on the computer system and gives him the money that he asks for. Mark now realizes he can fully lie his way into anything he wishes. What he must, unfortunately, discover, is that lying cannot win you love.
A concept unlike any other that has been in any romantic comedy, this alternate world will have you laughing at just how silly telling the truth ALL of the time really is. A favorite line of mine from the movie is when Mark and his date Anna (played by Jennifer Garner) are out to dinner. As they are being served their drinks and the waiter says to Anna, “I had a little sip of this, from right there”.

The Lovely Bones
Susie Salmon is a young girl that just began high school – her biggest worries were comprised of small arguments with her parents, first dates, and first kisses with the boy of her dreams. Her worries were everything a 14 year old girl should be worrying about, but that all changes one cold day in December on a lonely walk home. Susie is approached by her creepy, mysterious neighbor – Mr. Harvey - and is lured into a trap he created just for her where he ruthlessly murders her. After discovering she is a ghost and trapped in an in-between world that is no heaven and no earth, she must watch her loved ones fall apart at the seams from afar.
Her family weakens and is torn apart as they grieve her loss. Her father, played by Mark Wahlberg, will not rest until he finds her murderer as he seeks justice to be served.
Susie is not ready to pass on to the after-life. In her in-between world she must unlock the secrets to her murderer and the dark reasons behind her own death.
This dark story was extremely frustrating yet intriguing to watch. I believe director Peter Jackson executed the story very well and successfully captured the frustrations and mysteries associated with murderers, death, and grieving the loss of a loved one.

The Last Song
Ronnie is hostile, angry, and builds a wall up between her and anyone she meets on her summer trip to Tybee Island. When Ronnie begins to protect a local turtles nest in danger, alongside recently met Will Blakelee, she discovers he might have more layers to him than she thought possible. An unsuspecting summer romance begins to unravel as Will quickly transforms into a whirlwind of a first love.
It is a life-changing summer for Ronnie, and she herself discovers that she has more layers than she ever knew. A movie of family ties, first loves, hidden secrets, and forgiveness – a storyline inspired by Nicholas Sparks never fails the audience. But how was the movie as a whole? The audience didn't know what to expect with Miley Cyrus in a serious role like this after her fame from Disney's Hannah Montana. My opinion aside, from research on other reviewers' point-of-views, the general consensus was that she --– well –-- sucked. She has extreme difficulty conveying a broken heart, and the audience just cannot believe her in this role. However, her real-life relationship with fellow co-star Liam Hemsworth proved for a believable chemistry between the two lovebirds.
Acting aside – I believe that isn't the main ingredient in a good movie – this is another magical romance inspired by brilliant author, Nicholas Sparks. I really enjoyed the movie, and you just might too!To check out where I watched this film and many others, click one of the links below for free videos online. Thanks! Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day follows a large, diverse group of people living in LA over the course of the day. There's heartbreak, heart-mending, lovers uniting, lovers breaking apart, and a lot of self-discovery. There's a character or a story-line that likely any audience member would be able to relate to.
Major actors/actresses include: Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Shirley MacLaine, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, and many more.
But what did the audience think? I saw this movie myself and I thought it was everything that I could expect out of a movie of its genre. It was cute, funny, and even had a couple of twists that added a lot to the plot. I found the best part about it was that you didn't need to think or figure anything out – you could just sit back and enjoy the show as the love stories unraveled. A lot of reviewers agreed with me, but there were many that disagreed. Some said that it was cheesy, stupid, overacted, and that it was missing the magic that a lot of romantic comedies should possess.
No matter what people think of it, good or bad, I recommend that everyone should watch this movie – it's quite refreshing and reminds us how much love really plays a role in our lives; young and old. It just may spark some romantic ideas of your own!

The Blind Side
Michael, or “Big Mike” as they call him so much in the movie, is a homeless African teenager that moves to a suburb of a world of unfamiliar white faces and must face many challenges.
The outside world viewed him as a giant, as a stranger, as incapable – but he proves them wrong. His world begins to turn around when he is welcomed into the home of an upper class family. He finds his identity, discovers a talent and a passion for foot ball, and feels what its like for the first time in his life to be apart of a family.
Quinton Aaron, who plays the character of Michael Oher, could not have been better casted. He played the role so well and really made the story come to life.
This movie really teaches viewers life lessons – about self discovery, about the ability of sports to make an impact on someone's life, and the importance of families and how they can come in any shape or size; blood lines being completely irrelevant.
A real feel-good flick! See for yourself, check out these amazing sites to watch it now:
